Therapy for Women in St. Louis

You’re trying your best to hold everything together.
But inside, it feels different.

You’re overwhelmed. Disconnected. Exhausted in a way that has you feeling stuck and worn down.

You’ve been pushing through… but you know you can’t keep going like this.

You don’t have to keep doing it this way.

Whatever you bring here is enough.
I meet you exactly where you are… and we move forward from here.

There’s a reason this feels the way it does.

Together, we slow things down and start making sense of it.

When you sit down with me, we get to the core of what’s been holding you back.
That’s where real change begins.

You don’t have to perform here.
You can let your guard down… and we’ll make sense of it together.

Who This Is For

I work with women in St. Louis who are:

  • Overwhelmed but still functioning

  • Carrying the impact of past trauma

  • Ready for deeper healing—not just coping

Meet Dr. Erica Shick PhD -

A Trauma-Informed EMDR Therapist in St. Louis

What This Work Actually Looks Like

This isn’t about fixing you.

It’s about helping you:

  • Learn how to stay with yourself, even in the hard moments

  • Feel more peaceful and confident in your body, instead of constantly overwhelmed

  • Work through what you’ve been carrying… instead of pushing it down

  • Rebuild trust with yourself

  • Live more calm, clear, and connected in your day-to-day life

My Approach

My approach is grounded, trauma-informed, and direct…  in a way that still feels safe.

I’m not here to rush you or work on the surface.

I help you get underneath what’s been keeping you stuck - so we can start to understand what’s actually going on and what you truly need.

Together, we identify the patterns and roadblocks that are getting in your way… and begin to gently work through them in a way that feels steady and manageable.

This isn’t one-size-fits-all work.

We work with what’s coming up for you - not a script or a set formula.

When it’s helpful, I use EMDR therapy to help process what you’ve been carrying and reduce the overwhelm that comes with it.

But more than anything… this work is about helping you reconnect with yourself and create real, lasting change.

When you’re ready, you can schedule a consultation through the button on this page or reach out directly by text.

If you’d like to talk first, we can start with a brief 15–20 minute consultation call. It’s relaxed, supportive, and completely pressure-free.

You don’t need to share everything—just the “headlines” of what’s been going on and what you’re looking for.

From there, we’ll decide together if this feels like the right fit and schedule your first session at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

  • I work with women in St. Louis and across Missouri and Illinois who are feeling:

    • Overwhelmed but still functioning

    • Disconnected from themselves

    • Anxious, burnt out, or emotionally exhausted

Many of my clients are working through perfectionism, people-pleasing, or the long-term effects of growing up in emotionally complex environments.

I also support women navigating boundaries, identity, and relationships—including those impacted by a loved one’s addiction.

If you’re looking for deeper healing—not just coping—this may be a good fit.

  • For clients who want it, yes.

I often work with Christian, Catholic, and spiritually-minded women who want a therapist who understands how faith and values shape emotional well-being and life decisions.

Whether your spirituality feels grounding, complicated, or somewhere in between, it can be explored here with care, respect, and without judgment.

  • Sessions are grounded, calm, and focused on what you need that day.

    We might:

    • Process deeper experiences using EMDR

    • Explore patterns, triggers, and emotional responses

    • Work on regulating your nervous system

    • Or simply slow things down and create space to breathe

There’s no pressure to have the right words or a plan.

Your role is to show up as you are.
My role is to guide the process in a way that feels safe, steady, and supportive.

  • A standard 50-minute session is $150.

Longer sessions (90–120 minutes) are available when appropriate—especially for EMDR or deeper processing work.

I am a private-pay therapist, which allows us to focus fully on your needs and maintain a high level of privacy.

I can provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement and will guide you through that process if needed.
